⚠️ The content of this article might be seriously outdated. Lots has happened since I wrote this, including the cost of gas shooting through the roof. As a result, Argent stopped subsidizing the gas (and lots of the super-cool features that were free).

Argent is a great way to start exploring the DeFi world. It might be the best way. Here are some of its features. Some help the newcomers (but make experts cringe a bit).

The Good

No Seed

The wallet is smart-contract based, so it does not provide a seed to the user. Instead, Argent uses a system of Guardians to regenerate/recover lost keys.

Seeds

ENS Address

Argent makes you (is it optional? I can't remember) have a ENS address. This means that your Ethereum address will be *yourname.argent.xyz* instead of 0x0472ec0185ebb8202f3d4ddb0226998889663cf2*.* This makes easier to tell your friends to reimburse you for that coffee they owe you.

Gas Subsidized

The gas is a relatively complex thing to explain to a newcomer. Especially if they're initiated with a currency other than ETH, then the they need to have ETH to transact... not helpful. Argent subsidizes transactions (fair use policy) and some integrations with DeFi solutions.

Gas

Integrations with DeFi solutions

Argent is integrating with several DeFi solutions (and also subsidizes some of the gas to interact with those). This makes it very easy for newcomers to get started and experience first hand some of the cool projects out there.

Great Team

Argent has a great team behind, and it's backed by some of the hot VC firms (Index Ventures, Paradigm, Hummingbird, Proxy).
